• I Find your research very interesting and something which I have been working on also over the last number of months. It Is interesting that you also have found that Students will open up more to their peers. In my school we have established a “Student led Anti Bullying “team for students to talk to.This I am hoping will provide us with more…[Read more]

  • Hi Gaye

Its interesting that she admitted that she “Used to be put down and walked over”, it fits with the research on Bullying, that those that are bullied at a young age can go on to be the Bully?
She is also fitting into the typical case, of “The bullying, turning to unsociable behavior”. Although a lot of research shows that Boys that…[Read more]

  • Congratulations on your hard work. This I find very interesting, that in the current climate that only 11% have been part of Cyber Bullying, and that 90% were by groups.
Did you get any further information on why the pupils feel the school does not take an active role. Have they not had experience of a successful outcome of the school dealing…[Read more]

  • I Find your research very interesting and something which I have been working on also over the last number of months. It is interesting to note that such a high percentage knew about the Policy but it was not a deterrent. Does this tell us that we need more hands on approach, and education on the matter, not just the paperwork. Do you hold an…[Read more]

  • Congratulations on completing this Policy. I know how difficult they can be. However I cannot but feel that some definitions of the different means of Bullying may be helpful, as this can sometimes be very unclear to people, either Victim, Bully, or Witness.

  • Very sad story, and an eye opener… Makes one aware of the implications and lasting effects of Bulling and how we can try deal with Bullying, or help the victim .

  • I’m writing to get your opinion or experience of dealing with Parents:

After Speaking with a Principle of a Primary school last week, which has very little serious cases of Bullying, we got talking about the opinion and mindset of Parents. Despite the fact that I’m from a secondary school, and she a Primary school, we have had similar…[Read more]

  • Thank you for your advice. I have worked a lot on putting together a support group of Students.
This we call “Anti Bullying Student group” and I am hoping that it will provide the message that there is support within the school for those victims, and also a message to the Bully, that it is not Ok to carry on in such a manner.
    As most schools we…[Read more]

  • Thank you Maria,

This sounds excellent and something that I will put in place for the upcoming year. You are right, although it is vital to highlight Bullying, we also need to look at the vulnerable students too, and not allow them to become victims.

    Clodagh

  • While working with pupils in an all girls school, I felt that students were not telling about bullying incidents that were occurring in the school. This questionnaire was to try give me a brief insight into […]

    • Hi Clodagh,
It is brilliant to see such positive outcomes from conducting a questionnaire with students. It has not only given the students the confidence in reporting bullying but ideas have been forthcoming to how they can help to identify bullying among their peers. Conducting such a questionnaire at regular intervals will give students a voice and implementing some of their suggestions will motivate and sustain their interest in curbing bullying.
      All the best,
      Mona

    • I think it is great that with this questionnaire you gave them the chance to feel comfortable and express themselves. Especially, the fact that over 70% of students weren’t telling on the previous questionnaire because the bully was there, proves the necessity of providing a “revealing-safe” environment that students feel acceptance and openess in case they report a bullying incident.

  • Hi guys,
I’m at present trying to think of the best way to get students to come forward? I feel a total new approach is needed as students are not coming forward. At present I complete a sociogram with the entire school every half term.
Can anyone help me on suggested questions that I should put on this form that might help. At present I have…[Read more]

  • I have been thinking alot on this lately, and working with students by discussing different ideas with Students, out of the class environment,(as I dont feel students speak openly in this environment, when “the Bully” or “the Victim”, may be present)

Is this a suitable topic to work on as an objective?

I also feel parents play such a key role,…[Read more]
